Well! After publishing this piece yesterday morning, I committed to taking the day OFF entirely. I had breakfast with a friend (Pacific time), oblivious to the fact that our conversation about his unhappiness with the president's reelection was moot as it was happening. By mid-late afternoon, my obliviousness was thwarted by a large number of texts from friends alerting me to the day's news. It doesn't negate the overall message of THIS piece, but it certainly smothers it in the immediate term. :) Staying on the subject of energy, though, I'm certainly appreciating the avalanche of new energy that is suddenly upon us and will do whatever I can to direct it into a massive win for democracy, equity, economic fairness, environmental stewardship, a strong separation of church and state and so much more that everyone who isn't a Trump Republican stands for in November.
