You NEED to READ this BOOK https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RC557SQ/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_hsch_vapi_tkin_p1_i1 “Secret Empires”. It explains WHY corrupt criminals, like this guy, keep getting "elected" back into high offices and stay there FOREVER. I have a brother who lives in KY and doesn't know ONE person who likes or voted for this guy! With Term Limits this wouldn’t be able to happen. It was the FIRST “To DO” Item on Trump’s list. He railed about it all during his campaign AND, in the last speech that he gave to a HUGE crowd of thousands last night, he mentioned this creep specifically.

This has NOTHING to do with being Republican or Democrat. It is embedded in this extremely corrupt system that has come about by letting huge corporations and SUPER PACs become the ONLY WAY anybody gets elected. AND if you think that elections are actually for the people and by the people, or that there is absolutely NO CHEATING ever, then…

The FIRST thing we all need to do if we REALLY CARE about humanity, is to clean out this corrupt political system on BOTH sides. That doesn't happen when you allow ANYBODY to vote without proof of citizenship or show an ID. Read the latest, proposed voting bill... it is a guarantee that people like McConnell will NEVER get voted OUT!

[This is in response to both installments here, Linda]

As I said in the very headline of this piece: you probabaly think this is about Mitch McConnell (or, and this part wasn't in the headline, maybe even everything else you're saying here). It isn't.

So while I certainly have my share of thoughts and opinions and feelings about the issues you're talking about -- perhaps even more than my share -- none of it has anything to do with what I attempted to discuss here.

Ok. I re-read this article and I do get the point you are making... and just got triggered on McConnell because I know so much about him. Your viewpoint is to take the negative and turn it into the positive. Focus on those, clean new, enthusiastic politicians that are the opposite of Mr. McConnell. ....But then I start thinking about how McConnell got there and will stay there if we don't come to some kind of simple agreement as to how to run our elections so they are honest, because when one takes a DEEPER LOOK, he is not there because he was voted in by those living in the State he represents. And no WAY anybody who isn't being bribed or blackmailed would ever elect HIM as the Senate Majority Leader.

I get triggers, for sure! And it's amazing you would re-read at all. Indeed, though, now we are far closer together. Everything about what I call conscious politics favors everything you're talking about here about the rot at the root of so much of it. I don't disagree at all. This practice, however, as you note, most definitely IS about where it is we want to go. I'd say it's more than just turning a negative to a positive, but that's not a terrible way to put it either. Understanding how we got here is of use and value in some ways in some cases, but not ever nearly as important or productive as clearly identifying and articulating what's wanted. Indeed, the muck of the past -- e.g., how a guy like MMcC exists -- is all, if you ask me, a giant springboard into what we want. And once we've dived off the board, there's not a whole lot of interest in the board. I do believe our Venn diagrams are delighting in some overlap today. :)
